Many years ago, we took an off-season trip to Hilton Head Island to ring in the new year. My husband’s work schedule had been crazy and we never worked a regular vacation into the calendar. Better late than never, we thought.
The weather was seasonable, so we needed light jackets and couldn’t swim in the ocean. Bright sunshine did warm the beach enough for long walks, though. Since it was off-season, we had the whole place to ourselves! The resort’s pools were heated, so we still got to enjoy the water.
New Year’s 2007 at Hilton Head. She was so tiny!
We enjoyed downtime, uncrowded restaurants (and roads) and discovered our favorite time to travel! There’s something incredibly relaxing about closing out the year with family, making memories and NOT having work or chores to drag us down. I might even look forward to it more than Christmas… maybe. 🙂
Last year, we took a new year’s cruise. That’s high season in the cruise industry, but we had a blast. I honestly think it’s the same principle, enjoy family!
