The Hilton Richmond, VA in Short Pump offers spacious rooms, luxury amenities, thoughtful design in a convenient location close to restaurants, shops and other attractions. Business travelers and families will appreciate the floor space to move around, many outlets to charge electronics and quiet rooms for a good night's sleep. An onsite restaurant, spa, pool and wifi add value. #hotelsrichmondva #hotelreview #visitrichmondva #RVA @visitrichmondva #hiltonhotels #hiltonhotelsunitedstates #hilton via @karendawkins

I don’t often post hotel reviews on my site. To be honest, if you want to know hotel amenities, there are lots of sites out there that have all that information, so why clutter the internet by repeating the same old thing?

But, sometimes, a hotel is more than the sum of its parts. And those hotels, in my opinion, deserve a shout out! The Hilton Richmond Hotel & Spa/Short Pump is one of those places.

The Hilton Richmond Short Pump hosted a conference I attended, so my stay was complimentary. But, I didn’t wear a sign or anything that said, “Hey, be nice to me. I’m a travel writer.” No…. there is no way the entire staff could have known me or my job. (Hmmmm…. I need to get more famous. LOL)

Yet, from the moment I stepped through the front door into the immaculate, bright, comfortable lobby to the second I drove home, every moment of my stay was incredibly pleasant. The property, the staff, the location — top notch! If you’re headed to the Richmond area and plan to visit areas beyond downtown, I highly recommend you stay here.

The Hilton Richmond Hotel & Spa in Short Pump

The Hilton Richmond Short Pump is a hotel and conference center, thoughtfully designed for business travel. But, the benefits business travelers enjoy are also great perks for vacationers. While I stayed here for a conference, I pictured my family on vacation, enjoying the spacious rooms and excellent service.

As a conference center, the hotel has all the required business amenities, plus conference space of course. Wide corridors, a comfortable lobby area for networking, and onsite restaurant add convenience and comfort. The hotel is thoughtfully laid out with ample conference registration space — not just tables set up in a hallway — a definite plus.

Other amenities include a pool, fitness center, onsite laundry, spa, beauty salon and even electric car charging stations.

Rooms at the Hilton Richmond Hotel & Spa

When I travel, I usually end up in the room with no view…. seriously, if there’s a room that looks out on a brick wall, I’ll probably get it. But, not at the Hilton Richmond! I don’t think the hotel has a bad view. My room, centrally located on the 5th floor looked out over the roof of the entrance lobby to see the shops beyond. There’s a lot of green space near the hotel, so views will include a canopy of green trees as well.

The rooms are large — much larger than I expect to get in a conference hotel. I had a king room with tons of space to spread out. The bathroom was even larger than I expected, with counter space, a cubby for my personal supplies, a lighted makeup/shaving mirror and the usual amenities.

The desk space included a comfortable office chair — typical of Hilton hotels. BUT, it also included multiple outlets to charge a computer, cell phone and other electronic devices. The desk space was spacious — not sharing space with the coffee maker. NICE! Even next to the bedside table, I found multiple outlets to charge my phone. As a business hotel — or for families who have lots of phones — you won’t have to fight for charging space.

Other room amenities included closet, room safe, full size mirror, and an arm chair with foot stool to relax.

And, to top it all off, the hotel was quiet. SOOOO quiet. I loved it!

Nearby activities

The hotel is located in the Short Pump Towne Center area, with a number of shops and restaurants in walking distance. Just a few blocks down Broad Street is another shopping area with more restaurants. Wide, well-lit sidewalks mean you can walk to restaurants if you like, though there is plenty of parking here as well.

Beyond the immediate area, this hotel is a great location to make home base to explore the Richmond area. It’s only 30 minutes to Kings Dominion theme park. Nearby farms offer hay rides, farmers’ markets, golf, hiking trails and museums.

The Hilton Richmond Hotel Experience

When I arrived at the hotel, I was greeted promptly and courteously. I expect that at a conference center hotel. I got there two hours before check in, and the hotel still was able to accommodate an early check in. The front desk attendant looked up my Hilton Honors number for me and credited me 1,000 points for skipping room cleaning during my stay. I normally skip it on short trips, anyway, but appreciate the points award. Good job, Hilton!

She offered me a bottled water and directed me to my room.

All three days of my stay, staff greeted me with a friendly smile on every pass through the lobby.

Our last morning, I realized the schedule would be tight to check out of my room after morning activities and before the end-of-conference luncheon. I asked for a late checkout which was granted with a smile.

Really, this multi-lingual staff is well trained in customer service, friendliness and efficiency.

Headed to Richmond?
