Usually, I head out to explore the world and seek adventure.
This weekend, thanks to Winter Storm Jonas, the adventure came to us!
THURSDAY: Running errands with sunny skies and 50 degree temperatures. It’s hard to imagine we’re in for a record-setting storm.
FRIDAY: Jonas arrived during the night and we woke to miserable sleet, icy everything and power outages. We entertained ourselves with Pictionary and Monopoly by battery bulb! The neighbor’s river birch tree! It did not break — amazing!
Not bad, eh? Thanks, Thomas Edison!
SATURDAY: The storm passed and we were left with frozen everything — and stir crazy kids and dog. We headed out for a short, blustery walk around the block.

I shared one photo on Instagram, but my fingers got too cold — so the rest are here.
Our frozen bush. It lost a few branches, but it should survive.
Mail delivery was canceled! Really! The boxes were frozen shut…. and the kids were mesmerized by icicles. Funny — I grew up in the north. These icicles are so tiny… perspective.
My favorite shot from our walk. The world was frozen, but the flag still flies.
SUNDAY: The sun returned — though it took a while for our frozen world to thaw.

As a blogging geek, I checked my blog stats Saturday. It seems that lots of people were frozen indoors like us. This blog post, 20 things to do when stuck inside with kids, was quite popular! It was kinda fun watching it travel north with the storm. (If you were one of those who read it, which activity was your favorite?)
Did Jonas freeze you out too? How did your family pass the time?
