America will always remember the work of Martin Luther King, Jr. On the third Monday in January, we celebrate his birthday and remember his contribution to our country. This is the first national holiday to honor an individual black American. Rather than treat this holiday as a chance to sleep in and catch up on chores (though that is commendable), choose to celebrate and honor the holiday’s namesake instead.

Wow!! You’ve made a tremendous list here!! I’m excited to see some events close to me…though I live in such a rural area, nothing right here in town. Thanks!!
Thanks, Christina.
Every weekend across the country, there are amazing, free things families can do. Honoring a hero nationwide, though, is one of the best. I hope this is useful to someone out there!

I agree w/Christina, this is a fabulous list that you have compiled! Grand Rapids is pretty big so I’m not surprised they have things going on, I like it up that a’way but it’s a little too far to go this weekend.
Thanks for posting this. My son’s been learning about MLK, Jr. in school, so it’s been a discussion topic in our house this week. 🙂
Rosey, If you take any road trips through Birmingham, they have tons going on all year long.
